OMG

Oh my God! Usher has done it again! but this time he had a little help from Black Eyed Peas frontmant, Will.I.Am. OMG is Usher’s latest offering from his new album Raymond V. Raymond which sold 329,107 copies in it’s first week and has spawned hits such as Lil freak featuring Nikki Minaj and Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home) featuring Plies. Usher has been on a little break for a while and hasn’t given us anything since 2008’s album Here I Stand but now he comes back in full force. Though Usher’s been on a break doesn’t mean he’s been resting on his laurels. Last year, he and Scooter Braun discovered Justin Bieber, the latest teen heartthrob when Braun came across videos of Justin singing on YouTube. He and Braun then produced him and Usher featured himself and his house in Justin’s first video. Usher then continued to mentor Justin and also bought him a Range Rover for his 16th birthday. Phew!

OMG is one of those songs which don’t really have that good a tune but are catchy and they create a good feeling within you that makes you happy and therefore makes you like the song. The song having a good video (which OMG has) adds to this phenomenon. Without this type of song, many artists would be out of a job (I’m not gonna say any names; you can probably come up with a few!) and the music industry would be on its knees.

I love the video and it confirms my theory: “Usher is soooooooooooooooo cool!” As usual he’s got some pretty nifty dance moves and whoever stylist deserves a big pay rise. Will.I.Am was great too, decked out as usual in his futuristic-styled clothes and spitting some great lyrics. He was wearing something that largely resembled a skirt but I’ve been informed that it was actually some sort of wrap. A lot of designers have been making  man skirts so I say “Ride on, Will.I.Am!” And anyway, Will.I.Am could turn up wearing a bedsheet and still make it work.

All in all, it’s a good, catchy song that’ll make you wanna say “Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh my God!”
