Twitter Trending Teens

Uncategorized

Twitter, the popular social network has recently become a battleground for obsessed teens (and tweens) with too much time on their hands.
All Twitter patrons will know about its popularity gauge known as trending Topics. Justin Bieber has Trending on Twitter for quite a while, proof of how many teenage girls there are on Twitter. Twitter then decided to change the algorithm that decides what is and what isn’t trending so as to have recently popular things Trending instead of consistently popular Trending Topics (like young Mr. Bieber). Twitter help had this to say:

“The new algorithm identifies topics that are immediately popular, rather than topics that have been popular for a while or on a daily basis, to help people discover the ‘most breaking’ breaking news from across the world… We think that trending topics which capture the hottest emerging trends and topics of discussion on Twitter are the most interesting.”

Nick Jonas

This just wasn’t good enough for Twitter’s smitten, teenage and (mostly) female users so they made a new trending topic called Jick Nonas which is obviously a play on Nick Jonas. Bieber fans had Jieber or Bustin Jieber. This led to a little rivalry betwwen the stars’ fans as the Nick – or should I say Jick? – fans gloated at Jick Nonas being the No. 1 topic instead of Justin. GGGGRRRRRROWWLLL!

Justin Bieber

Twitter, however has changed the algorithm yet again and now Jick and Jieber are nowhere to be found, showing that the Man will always try to get you down! Take heart, fans. I’m sure some of the smarter ones among you will find their way around the new algorithm.
